Wicken Corn Windmill Tel: , Fax: , Cambridgeshire, CB7 5XR Wicken Corn Mill is one of the finest surviving windmills, built in the 19thC Cambridgeshire tradition. It is a smock or wooden tower mill, and is probably the only working 12-sided smock windmill in the world. Restored from ruin by the millwrights of the Wicken Windmill Partnership, with help from volunteers, the mill often grinds wholemeal flour on open days. Restoration of the internal machinery continues, and in 2004 we expect to produce white flour again. Come and see how flour was made in country mills 100 years ago..... |
